About requiem.net.au

Steven @ Wed, 2006-01-25 20:03

History

Requiem.net.au originally started as a summer project back in 2003 to develop a 100% self-coded Web Information System (blog) to act as a  central repository for all my academic thoughts, musings and artworks.  Originally launched on the 4th of May 2004, "Weblog for a Sunday Afternoon" as it was then called, has since outgrown its initial codebase.  In April 2006 the site was completely redesigned using the Drupal content management system and requiem.net.au - "My Indecorous Oeuvre" was born.

Since the redesign, requiem content has taken on a distinctively technical flavour with a special focus on my own Ph.D. and Apple computing systems.

The Name

The name requiem.net.au and its original theming were inspired late one evening while listening to Mozart's Requiem.  In homage to that great work, requiem's original banner image was taken from a photo of the original Requiem score, written by Mozart in 1791.

Banner Image

The current banner for requiem was a photograph I took while holidaying in Darwin, Australia, early 2005.
