Feeling more than a little seedy, my second day in Helsinki was considerably slower. I started off with a visit to the city art gallery; no photos were allowed inside unfortunately. I had about two hours to kill before the Torin hotel opened up its skyline bar. Taking the local advice of Juho, I went here for my views, rather than popular tourist observation spire out of town. About 20 stories high and set right in the centre of Helsinki, the view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking.
The view wasn’t the only beautiful thing up there, where I met a lovely Finnish girl called Tanja. She offered to help take some photos of me up there. We only had a couple minutes together, but it was enough to communication details. Unfortunately this was my last day in Helsinki and she was busy that evening. Not to be deterred, I contacted her later in the afternoon and we have kept in contact since. As you’ll read later, I changed my plans while in Stockholm and took off to spend 3 days with her in Helsinki.
