Today was an early start, setting off to the airport for my 9:50am flight. Giving myself plenty of breathing room, I found myself sitting around the airport for about 1.5 hours. As it was nearly time to board an announcement came over the system asking me to come to the desk; apparently the flight had been cancelled due to crew illness. The 6 passengers on the flight, including myself, were instead bussed up to Jyväskylä.
The trip was uneventful, but I was glad in a way for the cancellation as I got to see more of the countryside. Some three hours later we arrived in Jyväskylä. The bus set us down in the city centre, and quickly began to drive off. I realised after a moment that the driver hadn’t unloaded people’s bags from the luggage-compartment. I sprinted off after the bus, luckily catching it after about 30 meters. That little mishap more or less set the tone for the rest of my stay in Jyväskylä. After settling into the hotel, I headed over to the university to meet with the team there. The crew they have is talented and diverse, with a swag of new equipment. The evening was a quiet one, with nothing of interest to report.
