Alberto Gonzales resigns

US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has resigned his post. Mired in scandal, Gonzales' resignation brings to a close one of the most politically embarrassing issues of the White House administration. The controversy centred around the illegal and politically motivated firings of eight US attorneys by the White House, which I wrote about earlier.
